Consoles – A Highly Competitive Market

The national media carry a large number of advertisements for video game consoles, reflecting the competitive nature of the UK market. The major manufacturers have produced a series of machines in the last few years, each more technologically advanced than previous models, in a bid to gain a larger share of revenue.

On television, we are regularly bombarded by breathtaking, lifelike images of gameplay, much of which makes the player feel as though the game is going on around them. In newspapers and magazines, too, the manufacturers are regularly highlighting the many advantages of using one of their consoles.

With games becoming ever more realistic, it’s perhaps not surprising that sports simulations are currently so popular. Each passing year, new football titles, for example, are released, amid a high degree of hype. The money spent on advertising the latest game, in any genre, is invariably likely to be a substantial sum.

For the consumer, the price of consoles can be prohibitive, but compared to the hours of entertainment they provide, it still represents excellent value for money. For all potential purchasers, a visit to a comparison website should be the top priority, because the savings that can be made will often be considerable.
