Bedbugs

Dealing with bedbugs in your home

Bedbugs are a tenacious and
pernicious pest that can be incredibly difficult to get rid of once they have established a foothold in your home. The bad news is that cases of bedbugs infestations have risen dramatically in recent years, and you are now more likely than ever to play host to these blood-sucking parasites.

In the past, before modern pesticides were developed, bedbugs were a relatively common problem. As a result, people knew how best to prevent the pests from entering their home, and were also familiar with the telltale signs of an infestation.

Pesticides radically reduced the rate of infestation, and bedbug numbers plummeted. Bedbugs then became a much less common sight, and so people now don’t know what to look for when determining if they have an infestation or not.

However, due to the pressures of natural selection, today’s bedbugs are now much more resistant to most forms of pesticides than they ever were before. Also, because most people now can’t spot the signs of an infestation, by the time they do notice something’s wrong, the bedbugs have already firmly ensconced themselves in their home.

The increase in travel- both nationally and internationally – has also helped bedbugs to spread. Bedbugs love the soft furnishings that can be found in busses, trains and planes, and can easily travel from one host to another.

Regular washing of clothes and bed linen can help to reduce their numbers, but bedbugs are so small that they can easily secrete themselves in even the smallest nooks and crannies of your home, which makes them almost impossible to get rid of by washing and cleaning alone.

The only sure way to be rid of the little pests is to call on the services of a professional pest control agency. They can fully treat your home in a comprehensive manner, giving you complete confidence that every last bedbug is gone
