Cucarachas

Pest Control Products can Combat Cucarachas

If you are heading on holiday to Spain, one word you would hope not to hear too often is cucarachas. Translated into English, it means cockroaches. Equally, you would hope not to come across one in your hotel room or apartment and the likelihood is that you won’t.

However, if your holiday does take you to a more remote or rural part of the country you will need to be ready to deal with a number of unusual insects as you would on any foreign holiday so be prepared for the cucarachas, just in case.

They are instantly recognisable with their hard shell and the noises they make as they scuttle about in the night but they are not necessarily as harmful as people may imagine and dealing with them is relatively easy.

Cockroaches live in a range of conditions around the world and can adapt to a variety of environments. But, they do tend to prefer a warmer climate. They are generally nocturnal and also leave chemical trails and emit airborne pheromones which attract other cockroaches.

When looking to get rid of cucarachas, there is a range of slow-working poisons on the market that the cockroaches pick up and carry back to the nest. The poison then kills all the other cockroaches in the nest.

The best types of poisons are the gel-like solutions which are picked up by the cockroaches and stick to them. They then unwittingly spread it among other cockroaches or deposit it on surfaces where other insects may roam.

If you are in an apartment, or at home, try not to leave food lying around as it will attract various pests including cockroaches.

And if you are concerned that the problem is serious, act promptly and ensure that a professional pest control expert is called in.
